    September 26th 2021

    Dear Registrant:

Coquitlam/Moody Minor Baseball Association (CMMBA) and Port Coquitlam Minor Baseball Association (PCMBA) Clubs are excited to announce our intent to fully merge in 2022 on a permanent basis becoming the Tri-City Minor Baseball Association.

We want to combine the forces of both associations to ensure the quality of play remains high for registrants and that baseball can continue to thrive all year round in the Tri-Cities. A merge also encourages stronger talent and better competition and would keep kids from travelling to other leagues.

There are many other reasons for this merge to happen:

    • Less confusion on what the difference is between Tri-City / PoCo / CMMBA for Parents and kids.
    • We already merge in High Performance baseball every year.
    • Merging allows for a better transition from Grassroots to High Performance.
    • Tri Cities would have a common Board of Directors (we already try to do everything together and it's not always easy. One board would simplify the process)
    • Spring break and summer baseball camps would be easier to organize and run.
    • Can offer more off season training together - baseball could be a year-round sport, not just spring and summer so we can train all year long.
    • Each club has good ideas and events that can happen - having a merged association allows us to provide better programs and events.
    • Have enough people so we can do extra events with more volunteers not just the minimum to make a season go. We've had to drop lots of events due to lack of help.
    • Both clubs are always short board members and therefore run multiple positions.
    • Can get more sponsors because we would be a region not just a club.
    • Can host more provincials which brings funding to the club.

Both clubs also bring excellence in Coaching and Player Development. In a larger club we would have a broad range of coaches and are stronger with having players of all caliber. These would also be less of a chance of players leaving our club to other associations just due to the strength we will have in numbers.

We invite you to discuss with us your concerns, and join us for a one hour zoom session on Thursday, September 30 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm to chat with the Tri City Merge Committee.
