Mosquito Division
Regular Season (House) This division introduces live pitching and umpires calling balls and strikes. Bunts and steals are allowed, leadoffs are not. Emphasis is placed on teaching the fundamental skills of baseball, team play, learning good sportsmanship and building the youth's self confidence and self esteem.
There are two in-house tournaments during the spring season. The Tune-up Jamboree is held in the pre-season (April). The second is the Play-off tournament. Teams will play random games for the Jamboree. For the Play-offs, teams will be split into four divisions consisting of teams of pre-determined seeding from the regular season’s standings. These tournaments are a lot of fun and let the kids showcase their ability’s.
Games are scheduled Monday -Thursdays, with some falling on Friday’s. All games are played at Aspenwood or Bramblewood and start at 6:00 p.m. Practices are up to the individual coach, most take place on Saturday morning & Sunday late afternoon.
Summer Season (All-Star’s) In July (August if the team makes the Provincials) there is an opportunity to play summer baseball. Coquitlam-Moody would like to field three to four All-Star teams. All interested players will be asked to attend tryouts and orientation clinics. The All-Star player selection will take place after the Play-Offs, sometime in June. Summer teams play games against other associations, so there is some minor travel involved. The goal of the summer season is to further develop our young players and hopefully earn a berth in the Provincial Championships.
Fall Ball Season (97 YOB) Fall Ball is offered in September for those moving up to pee-wee, again playing against other associations. There are also opportunities to enter various tournaments. Fall ball team selection will take place after the All-Star season.
Boys and Girls aged 9 & 10 are welcome.
